Twydall Celebrates VE Day 2020

Dear Parent/Carer,
Friday May 8th, is a Bank Holiday to coincide with Victory in Europe Day, or VE Day, which marks the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe. This is a time to remember the heroic sacrifice of those who helped to defeat the evil of Nazism.
As this is a Bank Holiday, we want you to put your school work away and relax. However, should you wish to, you might like to do a little research and learn more about why VE Day is so important.
If you are interested in finding out more please visit these websites:
- Although this is geared towards KS2, the video is excellent and worth a watch https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/class-clips-video/history-ks2-ve-day/z7xtmfr
- This is a link to a livestream for 45 minutes that the Royal British Legion will be hosting (live stream on Facebook but linked on this page) https://www.britishlegion.org.uk/stories/ve-day-75-livestream
- This link (also Royal British Legion) has a downloadable pack (quite detailed) about ways families can mark the day together https://www.britishlegion.org.uk/get-involved/remembrance/teaching-remembrance
- And, just for fun, the YouTube for Dance for Victory! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjAoG3fgjkc
All of us at Twydall Primary would like to wish you a restful and happy Bank Holiday.
If you would like to send in photos and stories or your VE Day celebrations, please post them on the schools Facebook page Twydall Primary School Forum. By posting on Facebook, you are giving consent for us to post the story and picture on the website.
